I am currently an active principal with MST Builders, LC. My construction background and expertise in numerous fields of construction, has given me experience in all phases of residential and light commercial construction. This includes single family homes, multi-family and other non-residential construction. Furthermore, I have direct experience working with over 15 local building municipalities concerning building code compliance, planning and zoning, as well as local board of adjustments.
- June 2003 to December 2011:
Served on the Board of Directors with the Lien Recovery Fund, with the Utah Department of Occupational and Professional Licensing. (DOPL)
- September 2012 to the present:
Appointed by President Waddoups and Speaker Lockhart from the Utah State Senate, to the OCCUPATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE REVIEW COMMITTEE
- March 2003 to the 2010:
Served on the Board of Directors with The Road Home (formally Travelers Aid Society) Recipient of the 2006 “Heart and Hands Award”- presented by the Utah Philanthropy Association. I have become a lifelong ambassador for the support of our homeless community.
- Served as President of the Utah Home Builders Association, 2002.
- Served as President of the Salt Lake Home Builders Association, 1994.
During my 25 years of service to the Home Builders Associations, I chaired numerous committee positions, including functioning as the State’s project liaison for the construction of the HBA’s office complex in West Jordan, Utah– 2004. Served on the HBA of Utah’s legislative committee monitoring bills with regards to professional standards, continuing education and laws affecting private property rights.
5 time award winning Parade of Homes builder in: 1992, 1993, 1995, 1998 and 2002.
During the 2002 Parade of Homes, the restored property The Pines was voted overall “People’s Choice” for the 2002 Parade of Homes. MST Builders was acknowledged in various national trade magazines for the restoration and renovation work with regard to the 2002 home in Holladay, Utah, which was placed on the national and state historic registered.
- In the 1970’s and prior to going into business in January 1981:
- I started my family.
- I worked in the construction trades.
- I was a licensed Realtor in Utah
- I opened and managed heath spas for the Rice-Melby Corporation in Buffalo, Rochester, New York and Honolulu, Aiea/Pearl City, Hawaii.
- I was a journeymen carpenter and a proud member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Union Local #184.

Married to Joan Taylor a Real Estate Broker/Professional for 35 years.
We have 4 children and 13 grandchildren.
I live in Salt Lake City and also reside in Loa, Utah
I am a professional Santa Claus and devote much of my time during the holiday seasons to charity events and humanitarian groups relating to homelessness and The Road Home.
